no more apologies...after this one

time and motivation or lack thereof is my excuse for not blogging. nothing more, nothing less. as much as i love keeping up with everyone, the last few weeks have really consumed me, mostly emotionally, but not physically, thank goodness. can't slack on the training at this stage of the game. anyway, i feel the need to apologize to all of you who read my blog and leave such encouraging comments. i thought about my blog all weekend and how much i miss updating but just haven't been able to find the motivation to sit down and write type. i wonder if this is normal? and, is my blog the only thing that i'm neglecting in my life? is this a normal part of training for 140.6 miles and does balance in life really exist when you are training for this kind of distance? is it just me? that's what i'm struggling with right now and i'm not sure what to think.

on the training front, all is good. knee pain went away as fast as it came. feeling like i dodged a bullet there. i'm getting all of my training in and feeling very strong and motivated. maybe that's where all the motivation is going and leaving nothing left for anything else. i won't bore you with all the training details but if you want to see what i've been up to just click on my buckeye training log on my sidebar. at least i keep that up to date...LOL!

i found this really good poem about going after your dreams and wanted to share it with all of you. hope it helps you get a great start to your monday!

Go After Your Dreams
You're good, but you're going to be great.
You're the best, but you're going to get better.
Sometimes the paths we take are long and hard, but remember: those are always the ones that lead to the most beautiful views.
Challenges come along inevitably: how you respond to them determines who you are - deep down inside - and everything you're going to be.
Increase the chances of reaching your goals by working at them gradually. The very best you can do is all that is asked of you.
Realize that you are capable of working miracles of your own making. Remember that opportunities have a reason for knocking on your door, and the right ones are there for the taking.
You don't always have to win, but you do need to know what it takes to be a winner.
It's up to you to find the key that unlocks the door to a more fulfilling life.
Understand that increased difficulty brings you nearer to the truth of how to survive it - and get beyond it.
Cross your bridges.
Meet your challenges.
Reach out for your dreams, and bring them closer and closer to your heart.
Get rid of the "if only's" and get on with whatever you need to do to get things right.
Go after what you want in life, with all the blessings of all the people who care about you. And find out what making your wishes come true really feels like.
~ Collin McCarty ~

much love and peace out!

  1. It's very difficult to train for an Ironman, keep on top of work and family commitments AND do leisure activities (e.g. blogging). Especially during the "get the work done" phase of training (which, for GFT, is RIGHT NOW)!

No worries. From the looks of your training log you are putting in some serious miles and speed. Keep it up, and I'll see you when you lap me on the GFT run course! :-P

  2. Thanks so much for sharing that poem. I needed to read that right now. I think I will print it out and put it on my mirror as a reminder.

Good luck with the training. It sounds like you are doing a great job and I am very happy for you! Keep up the good work. And don't worry about the blog. We are rooting for you everyday even when you are too busy for blogging!

  6. Just like in everything, your interest in the blog will ebb and flow, become important and then not so much.

  7. I LOVE that poem! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I am seriously going to print it out and hang it by my workout stuff!
You should not even feel the need to apologize about your blog. You have A LOT going on and are training like a mad women!

  8. What a fabulous poem. Each line stands alone too!

You have had an incredibly busy schedule and an amazing season of training. We all know that your biggest goal is coming up soon; if you had time to do all sorts of blogging, something else would have to be sacrificed - and you don't want to do that.

So glad that your knee is better.

And, thanks for following me on FB.

  9. Hey KC - Welcome back to the blogosphere, you've been missed!

You are not alone in neglecting other activities. My house is in total and complete disarray that I am not even sure where to begin to get it back to just being a mess.

You are committed to doing this IM and that is where your focus needs to be - so your priorities are in line with your goals. Eat.Sleep.Train.Repeat.

  11. Great poem!

Yes, it's hard to train hard and give attention to everything else in your life. Sometimes blogging has to go in order to spend time with family/friends (or sleep, eat or train).

  16. I am sure it has been said already, but you are going to be okay. You cannot be "up," or expected to be "up," every day of the year. This is hard work on its own. If you were independently wealthy and never had to work, I imagine that you (all of us) would eventually get to that point of struggling with balance. Ironman is such a commitment and we all should not take it lightly, as burn-out is a real possibility.

I don't know you KC, but judging by your training log and the posts you have, I am certain that you are a dedicated athlete that knows that the greater the obstacle the better is feels when you cycle to the top of it and kick its ass.

The poem is perfect. I have printed it out and hung it on my mirror in the bathroom and I plan to read it daily. Thank you for motivating me.

Be strong..... the blogosphere has your back and although we are not all there physically, we are there in sprit creating the bestest biggest sweetest damn draft zone imaginable.

P.S. - I imagine the site is not "blue"by coincidence. You are the first person I know of with a mood blog. Kinda cool.

  18. Welcome back! I can totally understand not wanting to update. Sometimes it feels better just to be a lurker and post later, but I'm glad you're back (or are coming back soon)!
Good to hear the knee was a temporary thing.

  19. I think its just been a long, hard, draining, yet rewarding season and we are starting to feel the grind of it all, it doesnt help its hot as blazes outside, you know, where we also train all the time. Its almost offseason and time for r&r
