  1. Thought that was you. Did you notice I was in front of Arnie?? That was part of the 4 miles out of 85 I led.

  2. I don't know how you find time to get everything in. Absolutely amazing.
But, if you happen to find a place to buy some time, let me know.

  5. Soooo it seems blogging has begun taking more time than your IM training huh?! TOTALLY FEEL YOU ON THAT!

Keep up the awesome work KC.

Heather's new bike seat has seemed to help for the most part. I think we just need to put months in the saddle to see if things tame down.

Hope all is well down there, we have finally got our nice weather up here and LOVING IT!

  6. did i see on another blog that the lifeguards overslept again while you were trying to swim? gawd that infuriates me ... why do they even need lifeguards for the adult lap swims anyways?

  7. Jeff, you read correctly on Matty O's blog. The lifeguards over slept again. Last time, which was about 2.5 weeks ago and I got a free month added on to my membership and I'm getting ready to follow up on that same email to let the director know it happened yet again. And to boot, the pool hours just changed last Monday so instead of opening at 6am it's 5:30am. Even worse! The reason is that for the summer, the lap lanes close from 7-9am for other aquatic programming. I was there is at 5:30am and didn't get in the pool until 6. They suck!

  8. Well, a free month is a free month !!! That is pretty crappy to be honest. Very unprofessional on their behalf.

When you operate a facility like that and take peoples money for a service you are providing... AND posting your operating times, man this is nuts KC!

Luckily our rec center is like clock work and they get their people in there at 5:30 every morning haha.

Now we are dodging swim lessons in the afternoons... always something.

Are you following a training plan or are you going off of personal feeling for workouts?

  9. Matt, i am using the free BT ironman program. So far, I like it. I'm by no means following it to a "T" but it has helped me with structuring the workouts versus just going out and doing whatever I chose on a whim.

I tweak it as I need to but overall, I try to match the total hours at the end of the week that it has noted. What program are you following again?

Starting in July, I'll start taking my tri bike to the hills from here on out b/c the IM course is hilly so gotta get used to the tri bike there. I prefer the roadbike in the hills (much lighter and easier to maneuver and shift) but that won't help come race day so i'm sucking it up.

I'm going to need to research the pool thing come end of year. Unfortunately, the pool choices are few and far between here. The next closest one is LA Fitness and I'm not fond of "meat markets" like that. Thankfully, my schedule is flexible so I can adjust here and there and still get the swim in but I hate having to revamp my schedule constantly b/c the pool is screwing me over.

  12. As you said in one of your previous blogs..."taper schmaper". I am doing a shorter taper when i train for my next IM!!!! I wish I could give you some of this extra time I have...it's driving me crazy!!! Mentally and physically, I need a shorter taper. Well, ask me a week from today if I still think so!

  13. If I suddenly lost my job, I really wouldn't be sad cuz then I could put in 25 hours of guilt free training a week. Time wouldn't be an issue anymore, only recovery would be.
