last years race report and results can be found HERE.
there used to be a 26.2 tied in with this event, but last year, the organizers decided that 2010 was the last year for the marathon. thankfully, they decided to keep doing the half marathon, so guess what happened this year? all of those runners that would have done a marathon had no other choice but to do the half so i noticed it was a little more crowded, but no big deal. it made for more competition that's for sure. i also want to point out that the 40-44 female age group is more fierce that the 35-39! just sayin'. raise your hand if you agree?
the weather was great for cycling but a little warm for running. even though the race started at 6am, while it was still dark, i could feel it heating up around mile 4. i promise i'm not whining here. i train in this heat and i'm used to it but i don't LOVE running it. i do LOVE cycling and swimming in it way more.
race bling - back |
blingity-bling |
as usual, i am VERY sore today. my quads, hammies, and left glute (never the right) are sore but a good sore not an injured sore. needless to say, no running for me today and probably not tomorrow. i did hit the weights and the bike this morning but sitting all day at work made me get even more sore, so tomorrow it looks like a great day to swim and bike.
can you believe? february is OVER! only 249 days til IMFL.
much love and peace out!
Great race... you rocked it, especially knowing what you did on Saturday! :)

ReplyDeleteSo excited for you to do the 70.3!
WOW! You amaze me! Great Job lady!
ReplyDeleteAmazing time no matter what! And even more amazing considering you hammered out 70+ on the bike the day before!
ReplyDeleteYou are a rockstar!
It certainly was warm this weekend. Sitting here in a Hilton Garden Inn in Chicago makes me realize that it REALLY isn't 85 in the rest of the country... :)
ReplyDeletegood old Arnie swam around Harbor Island down there near where your race was 1.5 times on Saturday while we were riding.
BANG !! That is fast. Great race !!
ReplyDeleteOh, you are SO awesome!!! CONGRATULATIONS on an awesome run!
ReplyDeleteI am moving into the 40-44 and was really hoping everyone but me would slow down but with chicks like you dominating not a chance!!

ReplyDeleteHoly cow awesome race KC!! I love the pictures, you look so good! Way to rock it, especially after that bike ride.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of you running in shorts and a tank.
Thanks ya'll! It was a fun race and a perfect training opportunity timing wise. The medal is so heavy and big, I could use it as a paper weight.
ReplyDeleteLove the Bling!! Your time is Awesome as always!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteGreat job KC!!!
ReplyDeleteAs usual you are a rockstar :) haha.
Keep up the good work, gonna be a great year for you!
congrats on a great run, KC! You are in such phenomenal shape - if I can be like that at 40, that would rock!

ReplyDeleteyou have a lot to be proud of - sounds like a great race!! you are going to have an amazing 2011. keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the race
ReplyDeleteyeahhh, way to go!! I have been thinking about doing this race because it sounds like such a fun weekend, it's just a long old drive from miami.
ReplyDeletegreat mileage for Feb too!
Woohoo! You did awesome! I CANNOT believe you raced a 1/2 mary after a hilly 70+ mile ride the day before! You are awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHoly crow! What a great time - especially after the 70 miles the day before.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, the 40-44 age group is very competitive: women who are just getting back into it after having children, just starting to get into it and the maniacs like us (well, I'm a division up but you know what I mean). My challenge now is to keep up with the 40 to 44 year olds so that I can still fight them when I'm 50. Yikes!
OMG!!! You are freaking amazing!! You have such a speedy HM time....in my dreams could I run that fast for 13 miles! Congrats on a fast and fierce race! You look fantastic as always:)
ReplyDeleteWow, awesome job!! And look at that AG placement...bet the other 8 weren't on their bikes all those miles the day before. Way to rock it!
