sugoi rs shorts and bib short review

the following is a review of the sugoi rs shorts and bib shorts by my friend krista who just started her own blog at crazy for cross. she is an avid road cyclist, mountain biker and most recently, cross cyclist. she just started racing cross last year and has found her calling. i will soon say, i knew her when...

I have been a fan of Sugoi cycling apparel and accessories for about 4 years. Specifically, I think their RS shorts are top notch. I have tried Castelli, Cannondale & Pearl Izumi but they are all sitting at the bottom of some drawer. I was both excited and a bit nervous honestly when I heard about the new RSE line Sugoi was coming out with this year. I loved my current shorts so how on earth could they get any better? Well, Sugoi isn't just offering a regular short but also a bib short for women - jackpot! Admittedly, I have been jonesing to try out bib shorts but wasn't going to spend the money on another brand not knowing if I would like them. But could the new 10 panel chamois trump the current one? I go by the mantra of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" & that's the part I was nervous about. My fears were assauged after only one ride.

After trying both, I like the new shorts but I LOVE the bib shorts. It doesn't feel like I am wearing cycling shorts at all. The chamois isn't too bulky, it doesn't bunch up & I'm not aware of it when riding. On the bibs, it's quite liberating without the elastic around the middle. I don't notice the straps but so far I have had a base layer on under them each ride. If I had my choice I would only wear the RSE bibs from here on out. If you spend a lot of time on the bike, these are a must have. There's only one problem I have found...not having these bib shorts years ago! The RSE bib shorts score a perfect 10. Thanks to KC for letting me be a part of her super cool 140point6miles blog.

i personally have never worn bib shorts and the thought never crossed my mind until my friend and fellow blogger krista at crazy for cross told me about them. she may have just sold me on trying a pair out soon. only thing i want to know is, what if you hafta pee? how hard is it to get off? i know, i know, if there's a will there's a way.

krista, thanks for being a guest blogger on my blog. much love and peace out!

  3. Those look awesome! My husband has a pair of bibs and absolutely loves them. But, how do you go pee? I would think they would be a royal pain to get off b/c you would have to take off your jersey first. I guess some people would just "go" on the bike, but I just can't do that!

  4. Aimee, the pee question is the new million dollar question. Seems like it would be a pain for a guy or girl equally.

  5. From Dumb & Dumber:

Harry: "I got... I gotta stop and got to the bathroom"
Lloyd: "Just go man. Oh... that's really warm."

  6. jeff, yuck! i say that now but i think there may come a day when i may think or say, "oh, that's really warm" while on the bike. And you better believe i will dedicate a whole post to that very sugject.

  7. Rather late to this post. In reference to how you pee in bib shorts. I'm not sure how the ladies do it, but, men can just pull up there shirts and pull the front of their bib down. It's very easy. I will never go back to wearing shorts again!
