yay! finally turned a corner

yesterday, i finally felt the progress in my swim. although small, it was really there! those who know me and who have been following my blog, know that i just started swimming again at the beginning of january, after a long hiatus (5 years). i basically took the entire month to just get back into the swing of things, tweak my schedule to fit in all of the other things i like to do, etc...so let's just say that getting to the pool was a huge accomplishment and then just the whole being in the water and simply just doing laps was a big deal for me. it was also frustrating as all hell too because it isn't as easy to "pick up" as running and cycling have been for me. i decided that swimming is hard, period. it's a hard skill to learn because there are so many moving parts and you have to synchronize this, that, and the other and you can be fit as a fiddle and guess what? doesn't matter! you will feel like an amateur all over again. so that's what january felt like to me in the swimming department but it was a necessary part of just getting this ironman ball rolling.

i think i really did turn a corner yesterday at the pool. unlike the entire month of january, i went to the pool with a plan this time, a real, written out workout to follow. i won't bore you with the details but if you are interested, shoot me an email or leave a comment and i'll let you know what it is. i can't stop thinking about what a huge difference this made for me yesterday and the time flew by. honestly, i was getting bored to tears just doing laps with no purpose. so i have the next 6 weeks of workouts all written out and in baggies, ready to take to the pool. this is progress people and now that i can see it and feel it, watch out world!

happy wednesday peeps!

I would be very interested in your workout schedule, I have no plan except get in the pool and swim 30-45min at a time haha. matthew.oravec@gmail.com Thanks and keep up the great work!!!!!
