for some reason, i have been out of sorts this week and for the life of me, i can't put my finger on why this is. LOL...oh who am i kidding, i know why. when my best laid plans go down the drain, i get slightly irritated, just slightly. such is the case this week with the pool and not being able to get in there in the AM as i had so diligently planned, which in turn throws all of my other plans off. i was ready and willing, awake, bright-eyed and bushy tailed but not the weather. i've become a prisoner to this stupid, can't-make-up-its-freakin'-mind, weather here. now my panties are all up in a wad and i can't fix em'!
i forgot to mention the other thing that has me all up in a tizzy. yesterday i was running along the golf course where there is a small, uphill section that you need to run through. anyway, after i ran that part and got back on the flat, i felt like nancy kerrigan after tonya hardings henchmen whacked her in the knee! it came out of nowhere. thank goodness i only had about 1 mile left but i had to stop about 3 times to stretch out, which did make the odd pain go away temporarily. i suspect i'm not stretching enough...gotta fix that asap. i didn't run this morning, so we'll see how everything feels when i run tomorrow morning. until then, i hope everyone's work week is flying by. next post will be a happy post as i should have my new toy...the ipod touch very, very soon.
that's all i got for now...peace out!
Everyone has a plan, till you get hit by life. The difference between us and the rest of the world, we know how to keep moving forward, we dont give up, our heart and drive is ten fold of the average person. We strive to finish what we started.
ReplyDeleteok, good to know that I am not the only one who feels like if one workout is messed up due to weather or scheduling that the world is coming to an end. well, not really, but it feels like EVERYTHING is out of whack. Take for example a freak snow storm we are getting up here. Turned my 6 mile outdoor run into a 3 mile dreadmill. dang you weather! ;)p
ReplyDeleteYou gotta roll with it! Always have a contingency plan – that is easy to do with triathlons. I have seen so many people have to scrap a workout because the pool is closed since they did not bring any other clothes or shoes. Poor planning. Some of my best workouts have been because I had to nix the plan (I have also had some of my worst – but look on the bright side damn it!).
ReplyDeleteNow the pain – that is another story – take care of it now!
thanks BDD, Jon, and James for making me feel better about this crazy out of sorts week i'm having! I was feeling like a LOSER this morning. I'm tough on myself. thankfully, it is easy for me to switch gears and flip flop a workout if need be. wish we had an indoor pool sometimes. the Y won't let us swim when the outside temp is under 43 and it was 39. not sure what's up with the knee. testing it out tomorrow. you all have a great day!
ReplyDeletedon't worry be happy, it wil all get better! :) The knee thing sounds a little like ITB, I have had the same thing and nolt been able to move! stretch is best(google a couple of stretches for ITB) and you will be flying again in no time! CHeers and have a great day!
ReplyDeletethanks john...that was a very good guess on the ITB and that is the first thing that came to mind when i felt it. just googled some great stretches and did them at my desk. instantly feels much better. will continue keeping it loose throughout the rest of the day. never had that little niggle before.
ReplyDeletekeep on top of it, it can become really nasty(couple hundred $$ of oesteopath visits to show) Hope it gets better soon and you get your workouts in pain free! Cheers!~
ReplyDeleteOuch hope the knee heals. Also I hear you on weather throwing a wrench in the works...we ended up getting an unexpected snow storm tonight which kept me from making it to the pool after work.
ReplyDeleteDon't want to be a "lurker" haha. Stumbled on your blog and started following a few days ago. Great inspiration for me to get back into TRI's. Hope everything is going well with your training. It was 2 degrees up here yesterday morning, no more complaining about your weather!!!
