who knew i'd be so sore from swimming. it's a good kind of sore though. not debilitating or anything like that. it's all about muscle specificity, which means that even though i use my shoulder muscles (deltoids), trapezius muscles (upper back), rhomboids (mid back muscles) and lats (outer back muscles) when i weight train, it doesn't really cross over to swimming like you might think. The water resistance is incredibly hard and challenges the muscles in a different way so that's why i'm sore and i'm totally okay with that.
had a great training day despite having to run with 5 pounds of clothing on this morning to stay warm. i'm a minimalist when it comes to running garb. wearing less is better except on days like today, which have been more numerous than years past. global warming? i think not! decided to stay inside to ride since it was 47 degrees by the time i got home. did a challenging hour ride with lots of intervals and my legs were screaming especially with the 10 sprints i threw in early on. thank goodness for good music to distract me from the lactic acid pain.
tomorrow looks like another early morning run with layer upon layer of clothing, then at least an hour of swimming after work and maybe throw in some weights after that. i feel like a kid in a candy store when i'm at the Y. i want to take a spin class, hit the weights, run on the treadmill, hit the elliptical. too many choices, not enough time!
i want that swim cap pictured above. looks like i may have to go on ebay and buy it from a seller in hong kong.
much love and peace out my friends!
That is a cool swim cap. And I know what you mean. When I schedule in all of the training I want to do it ends up looking like 3 - a days with a day off every couple of months - fun but not smart.
