sweet, sweet ride today

today was a special day. after too many months of separation, the saturday crew was back in full force. a rare occasion last year, for various reasons, but i think 2010 is going to be much better for some great, organized group rides. the 56 mile ride today was a nice workout for all of us mostly because we've all been so cooped up inside due to our crazy weather here lately. if it wasn't raining, then it was freezing, but today all the planets lined up for us.

i feel so blessed to live where i do. the park that we ride at almost everyday and where we rode today (if the weather is playing nice) is literally in my backyard - this little gem of a park is called flatwoods park. it's my disney world. i can run or cycle there straight out my front door. it's a 7 mile loop or it can be an 11 mile loop depending on what entrance you use. i remember riding at this park 15 years ago and hardly ever seeing another rider, runner, or rollerblader but oh how times have changed. now, it can get pretty packed at certain times that's why if you are a cyclist, the best time to go is either really early, mid afternoon, or in the evening. here's a little video i took of me and favorite riding partner riding on the loop:

this week was an excellent training week:
